I basically picked this post because it really explains well something I’ve been going through with YouTube. YouTube changed its algorithm from favoring watch time, to favoring videos that can be produced quicker. As you can imagine, this makes collecting revenue off of videos difficult. This blog post gives a good weigh in on the matter as well as sighting other sources for backup. As for the look of the post, it’s only got one image so it looks about as bland a black text on a white background. Other than that, it’s a good read if you don’t know what it’s like to be an animator on YouTube these days.
“Despite all the good that YouTube has bestowed on animation in the past, between its algorithm and its increasingly unfriendly behavior towards independent creators, it seems that the platform is no longer the utopia we all believed it to be.”
